The IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Drive 3590 Model B1A comes without the ACF and is designed to go into the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Automated Tape Library 3494. It can also go in the IBM TotalStorage Silo Compatible Tape Drive Frame 3590 Model C12 or C14 for attachment to a StorageTek Automated Cartridge System (ACS). This model includes an integrated SCSI-3 controller with two ports that support a 16-bit, fast-and-wide, Ultra SCSI differential interface. The 3590 Model B1A Tape Drive has a 9 MB/second native date rate (with compression up to 27 MB/second sustained data rate).

The IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Tape Drive 3590 Model E1A comes without the ACF and is designed to go into the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Automated Tape Library 3494. It can also go in the IBM TotalStorage Silo Compatible Tape Drive Frame 3590 Model C12 or C14 for attachment to a StorageTek Automated Cartridge System (ACS). This model can be ordered with either an integrated SCSI-3 controller with two ports that support a 16-bit, fast-and-wide, Ultra SCSI differential interface or a dual ported Fibre Channel attachment interface. The Model E1A tape drive has a 14 MB/second native data rate (with compression up to 40 MB/second sustained data rate with Fibre Channel). Up to two Model E1As can be installed in a 3494 Model L12 or L14, up to four Model E1As in a 3494 Model D14, and up to six Model E1As can be installed in a Model D12.

The Model H1A tape drive has a 14 MB/second native data rate. Up to two Model H1As can be installed in a 3494 Model L12 or L14, up to four Model H1As in a 3494 Model D14, and up to six Model H1As can be installed in a Model D12.

This feature provides a canister containing one IBM LTO Ultrium Tape Drive with a Low Voltage Differential (LVD) Ultra2 SCSI interface with VHDCI connector. Also included is a power supply, fans, a terminator, and one 0.3 meter SCSI cable for drive-to-drive connection. This feature is required to add one additional IBM LTO Ultrium tape drive into a new Model L32 or add one additional IBM LTO Ultrium tape drive into a currently installed 3584 UltraScalable Tape Library. Features #1454, #1455, #1456, #1464, #1465, #1466, #1474, #1475, and #1476 can be intermixed within the library. However, LVD and HVD interfaces cannot be connected on the same SCSI bus.
